GUIDELINES FOR RADON MITIGATION INSTALLATION

This guide sheet is designed to assist you in preparing to submit an application to the Muirfield Design Control Committee for your project. These guidelines are in accordance with the Muirfield Design Standards. Written approval from the Muirfield Design Control Committee must be obtained prior to starting the project.

The following are required for compliance:

  1. Submit two complete applications including applicable drawings, prints, brochures and colors.
  2. The radon unit must be mounted at the rear elevation or side rear elevation of the house, tucked up close to the house in an inconspicuous spot.
  3. Adequate evergreen shrubbery (at least 36” height) must be planted and maintained to screen the exterior motor from view year-around.
  4. All exterior portions of the radon unit must be painted the color of the house adjacent to the unit.
  5. The radon unit release pipe must terminate no more than 18” above the roofline and lower than the ridgeline of the house.
  6. Provide a site plan of property showing the footprint of house on property which includes:
  7. Indicate the proposed location of the radon unit
  8. Indicate the location, size and type of evergreen shrubbery that will screen the radon unit.
  9. Provide elevation showing exterior portions of radon unit and termination point.
  10. Provide several photos of the area where the unit will be located.
  11. Provide design review fee of $20.00.
What to Include with this Application

To avoid delays and to prevent the application from being tabled, please ensure the application is filled out completely and include two copies of the application and two each of all relevant materials (samples, photos, drawings, site maps, brochures, etc.) plus the design review fee. One copy will be returned to the submitter. Include the following:
