MUIRFIELD eNEWS: March 10, 2022

ALERT: Parade Canceled Saturday, Other Events Still On

Good News: The City’s Riverside Celebration event will continue as planned tomorrow. This includes The Dublin Link bridge dedication festivities: musicians on both sides of the bridge, brief fireworks, a spectacular light show.

Bad News: Channel 4's weather forecast just now shows we may get 1 to 3 inches of snow, plus 30 mph arctic blasts, by mid-day Saturday, leading the City to cancel the annual St. Patrick's Day parade. The Lions Club pancake breakfast is also off.

More Good News: The City will have a celebration on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, a Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Family Celebration will take place from 4:30-7 p.m. at Coffman Park. More information will be released closer to the event. Check the City website. Of course Columbus has a parade on the 17th and more fun as well. Google it.

So, to lift the spirits of those of you who had planned to attend the parade, and thinking of our well-attended Landscape Seminar last night, here is a little Irish gardening humor for you ...

An aging man lived alone in Ireland. His only son was in Long Kesh Prison for being part o' the IRA, and he didn't know anyone who would spade up his potato garden.

The old man wrote to his son about it and received this reply. "For Heavens Sakes, DON'T dig up that garden, Dad, that's where I buried the GUNS!!!

At 4 A.M. the next morning a dozen British soldiers showed up and dug up the entire garden, but didn't find any guns. Confused the man wrote to his son telling him what happened and asking him what to do next. His son's reply was:

"Just plant your potatoes."
