Date Change: May Board of Directors Meeting

The Board of Directors meeting has been changed from Wednesday, May 17 to Wednesday, May 24 at 4:30 p.m. at the Association office. The reason for the change is that both the Board President and Vice President were unable to attend on May 17 and at least one of them must be present to chair the meeting.

Tennis: Meet the Staff Day this Saturday

Join us Saturday, May 6 from 12 Noon - 2 pm at the Glick Road Tennis Pavilion. Meet the 2017 staff, learn about summer programs and sign up on the spot. Come out to the courts and hit some balls! For the kids, we have 10 and under nets, foam balls and racquets - give them a try!

You may sign up for this summer’s tennis programs at Meet the Staff Day or online. There are programs for both adults and juniors!

Muirfins Registration Deadline – May 10

Muirfield Association is pleased to pass on the following message from the Muirfins:

The Muirfins Swim Team sign ups are still going on! Register at www.muirfins.com. The deadline to register without a late fee is May 10, 2017. From May 10 to 15, there is an additional $25 late fee per swimmer. No registrations will be accepted after May 15. Only new Muirfield Village move-ins will be considered after that date, subject to Board and Coach approval.

The Muirfins Swim Team is the community swim team for families who live in Muirfield Village. Their mission is to get Muirfield kids off the couch, screen, or whatever they're glued to and outside for some good, healthy summer fun and competition! Each year approximately 135 children join the team and have fun with their friends while improving their swimming skills. The Muirfins accept kids ages 5 – 18 so long as they can swim one length of the pool unassisted. There are no try-outs and they will work with all levels of swimmers. The kids practice Monday - Friday during the season and compete in meets each Wednesday night. The season runs May 30th - July 17th.

Trespassing on Golf Courses

Residents have contacted the office with concerns about people trespassing on golf courses. The golf courses have passed on the following information about what to do if trespassing is noticed:

The Country Club at Muirfield Village: If trespassing is witnessed during normal hours of operation, call the golf shop (614-764-7705) and employees will go out and address it. If it is after hours, call the police.

Muirfield Village Golf Club: The Club would appreciate it if a resident notices a trespasser to call the police first. Additionally, feel free to call the main number to notify them at 614-889-6700. They stated that they pressed charges last year with trespassers and will continue to do so.

The police may be reached at 911 for emergencies and 614-889-1112 for non-emergencies.

Please remember that both courses are private property. Remind guests and children that they are not permitted to play, walk dogs, or otherwise trespass onto golf courses.

Muirfield Village has over 29 miles of paved pathways that residents are encouraged to use to walk, bike, jog, run, skateboard, or roller blade. Motorized vehicles are not permitted (with the exception of medical devices) but strollers and wagons are welcome. Bring your pets (please clean up after them), family and friends, and appreciate the beauty of our neighborhood's golf courses from a distance.

Friendly Reminder: Music

With spring here and summer coming, now is the perfect time to gather outside and enjoy the warm days with family and friends. As a friendly reminder, if outdoor music is a part of your gathering, please keep the volume low enough that it does not disturb others. Dublin has a noise ordinance against “creating or causing the creation of noise so as to disturb or disrupt the peace and quiet of any reasonable person of normal sensitivity” (§ 132.03). Please be respectful of your neighbors around you so they too can enjoy the beauty of the season.

Foxes Spotted in Muirfield

Red foxes have been seen around Muirfield for several weeks now. It’s normal to see foxes at this time of year. Foxes pose no real danger to children, cats or dogs. The Humane Society states that adult pets are rarely a target for foxes.

Foxes adapt well to living in human environments. They are solitary hunters who feed on rodents, rabbits, birds, and other small game, but their diet can include fruit and vegetables, fish, frogs, worms, and even pet food and garbage. It’s a good idea to keep pet food inside where it will not attract foxes or other wildlife. Both Muirfield and the city have a rule that trash cans may only be put out on the day of collection: this will aid in keeping foxes, who are primarily nocturnal, away from garbage cans.

Urban foxes have chosen their den locations because human and pet traffic help protect them from wild predators. If a fox has created a den on your property, it should leave on its own by the end of June. City code § 96.17 does not permit wildlife to be removed from a property. Hazing (harmless frightening) is permitted. The city of Dublin has advice on dealing with foxes denning under decks.

More information about foxes can be found at the City of Dublin Nature Notebook: Fox Facts.
